The Thing
Book Cover Design
Imagine John Carpenter’s 1982 sci-fi horror masterpiece, The Thing, reimagined as a gripping novel. The book cover design presented here draws inspiration from the narrative’s central themes of isolation, paranoia, and the unearthing of an ancient horror. One of the primary goals for this project was to craft a cover that pays homage to the legendary practical effects that defined the film by using as few digital elements as possible. To achieve the final design, the title, rendered in stark black letters, was printed out and photographed through layers of ice, glass, and faux snow crafted from shaving cream and baking soda.
